The Top 5 Overlooked Benefits of Decorative Rock LandscapingDecorative rocks can give your home instant curb appeal with that well-manicured lawn and landscape look. While many types of landscaping involve plants that must be replanted season to season, you can always count on natural stone to look great as it stands the test of time. The benefits of installing decorative rock in Columbia, MO or at your Lake of the Ozarks home are far superior to other options. Here are the reasons you should upgrade your yard with stone and landscape gravel. 1. Decorative Rocks Offer Low-Maintenance All Year Long! While a lush lawn always looks terrific, it requires a lot of upkeep. However, using decorative rock in Columbia, MO and other area Mid-Missouri lawns and landscapes is practically maintenance-free. You don’t need a green thumb to have the best yard on the block. Natural stone acts as a weed deterrent, and you don’t have to worry about gassing up the lawnmower ever again. No matter if it’s winter, spring, summer, or fall, your landscape will always be in tip-top shape. No wonder stone has become such a popular form of residential landscaping. Plus, you can choose colors to match the aesthetics of your home. 2. Natural Water ControlSure, your lawn needs an adequate amount of water, but too much can cause more damage than good. Heavy rainfall is one of the leading causes of leaking foundations, and nobody likes stepping in a huge puddle in their yard. Incorporating a landscape design with decorative rock to dress up and help with drainage at your residence or business can help keep your water woes at bay. Unlike sod, which can only absorb a certain amount of water, you can use gravel and stone to create a natural drainage system. If your home is on an incline or at the bottom of a hill, this is it the ideal way to protect your property and lawn from water damage, and landscape gravel always looks beautiful. 3. Simple Outdoor LivingWhen the weather is beautiful, the last thing you want to do is stay cooped up inside the house. However, if you have an overgrown lawn, entertaining outdoors isn’t always the best option. That’s why some of the best landscaping in Columbia, MO and at Lake of the Ozarks features natural stone. You can use gravel and rocks to create walkways and patios, or for filler around hardscapes. Simply install weed fabric and you won’t have to worry about grass growing through your freshly laid stone, making it easy to create beautiful outdoor living spaces. After you finish your landscaping with these, you won’t want to wait to throw an outdoor gathering! 4. Affordable Installation and UpkeepIf you’ve ever flipped on a DIY television show, you know how expensive designer landscaping can become. Plants, flowers, and even concrete cost a small fortune. Luckily for you, natural stone is a much more affordable solution. Not only is gravel one of the most cost-efficient landscaping materials, but installing stone will also reduce other costs. For example, you won’t need to worry about planting new seeds each season or even invest in mulch or fertilizer. Think of all the time and work you can save while the price to maintain your lawn will also drop. 5. Incorporate Your FlairEveryone likes different things, and landscaping is no different. You’ll be happy to learn that natural decorative rock comes in a variety of colors, sizes, and options. A landscaper can also help you choose the best way to showcase your natural stone. Some homeowners like to replace some or all of their grass with pea gravel. Small Zen gardens and water features can also benefit from stone features. Others use different rocks and stones to create a contrast against other elements in their yard. No matter your vision, gravel, and rocks can make it come to life. A skilled landscaper can help you come up with a design that meets your needs and preferences. I never thought about how rock landscaping could be useful for drainage. It makes sense that the water would end up going in between or beneath the rocks. Maybe we can get this done in my backyard right where the gutter dumps all of the rain.

Thanks for pointing out that we can use rocks to create patios and walkways that will add value to our homes. My husband and I are planning to improve our backyard in July by having walkways to our garden. I guess we should look for a trusted provider of landscaping rocks on Monday who can offer us crushed river rocks at an affordable rate.
